A bevy of energy-focused executive orders signed by President Donald Trump on Monday have state and local officials on edge, wondering when or if they will get the money promised to them for clean energy and infrastructure projects.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection was set to begin accepting applications for large industrial decarbonization projects under its Rise PA program in the coming weeks, which was approved for $396 million federal funding from the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.

The fate of that money, which was allocated to Pennsylvania but is still with the federal environmental agency, is now uncertain. The same is true for a home energy rebate program that was supposed to launch early this year to give low- and middle-income residents assistance with upgrading appliances and energy efficiency home improvements.

But with much of the funding already flowing into Republican-controlled districts, questions remain over whether Trump would withhold money from areas of his greatest support. Read Full Article
